I am happy be be able to announce that I can now offer residential pattern making, sewing and modelling on the dress stand courses in France!
The courses are delivered in a beautiful farmhouse setting in rural France, set in 14 acres of land, with a small lake and lots of nature. The house is 90 minutes drive from Nantes Airport and just over 1 hour from Poitiers Airport. If you need information on how to get to us from the airport then please let us know.
We have 5 large bedrooms. Accommodation is either single or double occupancy. The courses are fully catered with a continental breakfast, lunch and dinner provided each day with complimentary wine.
We also have a swim spa and hot tubs, so you can relax in the evening or take an energizing swim in the morning.
If you are interested in developing your pattern cutting or sewing skills in a relaxed environment then please get in touch. I am happy to run bespoke courses on a one to one basis or group courses for up to 3 or 4 people so please get in touch and we can arrange your sewing or pattern making retreat at a time to suit you!
I can also offer CAD training using a number of Pattern Design Systems.
All courses are taught by myself, Nicola Chadwick. I have a degree in Fashion Technology and a Masters Degree MSc with distinction in Clothing (Advanced Manufacture) and am also a fully qualified Lecturer. In addition to my teaching experience I have worked as a freelance pattern cutter, graded and fashion business consultant throughout my career.

I’ve very recently come back from Nicola’s first Pattern Cutting course in the beautiful Saint Pardoux and what a SUPERB experience it was! From day 1 we learn’t how to create our own pattern blocks from scratch with clear explanations as to why each measurement was needed. Having studied Clothing Design as my previous degree this is a fantastic course which I highly recommend! I learn’t an incredible amount within the 5 days, often more than I did in university and I had so much fun throughout every step! Nicola is a brilliant teacher, with a vast amount of pattern cutting experience and knowledge to share and a brilliant host! She also kindly took us on trips to fabric shops and made us amazing home cooked and home grown meals :D.
I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on future courses and would like to return to learn even more!

I can honestly say that I learnt more with Nicola during the week I spent with her, than I did on my 3 year fashion degree course. I also came away with a full set of blocks and the confidence to start my own fashion business. I have also had lots of help from Nicola since. I can highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn properly from the start, or for anyone that doesn’t quite have the confidence or skills they need to progress.
